Lions confirm they are going to Jersey only
THE BRITISH & Irish Lions have confirmed that, as expected, they will not be visiting Guernsey as part of their pre-tour training schedule, but they will be going to Jersey.
A spokesman for the team announced last night that Guernsey had definitely been ruled out.
Head coach Warren Gatland visited the island over the Easter weekend to scope out the facilities at Foote’s Lane, but he sparked controversy because he was not required to undergo the usual 14-day quarantine.
The wrangling deepened when it was revealed that Mr Gatland had eaten sandwiches and another meal with local officials and sporting representatives.
The Lions are one of the most high profile teams in world sport, and in Jersey the announcement has been greeted with huge excitement.
