At 11.39pm yesterday [20 April], all three emergency services were called to attend a one-vehicle accident, just south of the Rue de Goddards junction, near Crabby Jacks.

Five people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

'Sadly, as a result of the collision, one 19-year-old male died shortly after,' a police spokesman said.

'His immediate family have been notified, and specialist family liaison officers will be deployed to assist the family at this difficult time.'

The name of the man will not be released until all family members have been notified.

Two other occupants suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. However, their injuries are said not to be life threatening at this time.

The two other occupants were treated for minor injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision and have deployed specialist collision investigators and vehicle examiners to the scene.

Last night, six civil protection officers were called to help with lighting and road closures.

Some were still on scene this morning to help with cordons.

Anyone who heard or witnessed the collision is asked to contact Inspector Tom Marshall or PC James De La Mare on 725111.
