Small kitchen fire contained by homeowner
TWO fire trucks were dispatched to a small kitchen fire this evening [21 April].
Fire and Rescue blocked Le Foulon road, St Peter Port, as crews dealt with the incident.
Watch Commander Gary Sargent confirmed that the fire was due to cooking and was contained to the cooker area and hob. It had been brought under control by a fire blanket before crews arrived.
'The homeowner got out with their dog right away, which is the right thing to do,' he said at the scene.
Fire and Rescue were called to the house at 6.19pm.
'We've got breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a covering jet,' he explained.
'We used a positive pressure fan to remove smoke from the building and then were able to look for any further damage, although there has been no water damage and it looks like there will only be a little bit of smoke damage.'
