Freedom rally attracts a dozen protesters
RALLYING for 'freedom and democracy' – and against Covid vaccines – saw a dozen people gather at Salerie Corner on Saturday.
It was part of a world wide rally that was taking place, aiming to raise awareness on how much information is hidden and how much misinformation is spread.
One of the main catalysts for the rally was the pandemic, with protesters saying that people were not being given enough accurate information about the disease itself, the vaccine and the evidence around it.
No-one present claimed to have organised the rally locally, and they were reluctant to give their names as they said people around the world were being killed for speaking up on issues of freedom and corruption. They hoped the rally would encourage people to do their own research on topics that mattered to them, rather than believing everything they read.
One person present said they wanted to ‘open the public’s eyes’ to how laws are taking away islanders' freedoms.
They gathered at Salerie Corner for more than an hour, with the intention of walking to the Sunken Gardens to continue the conversations.
Two Facebook groups had been created but had been taken down with warnings of ‘fake news’, so some members communicate through the platform Telegram.
