Lt-Governor Sir Ian Corder presented the awards.

Ian Torode from the 9th Scout group was awarded the Bar to the Award for Merit for outstanding service to the association for more than 30 years, while Mandy Langmead, Rosalyn Lesbirel, Philip Morley, Sue Le Billon, John Domaille, Davina Mansell, Jane King and Julie Le Page all received awards for merit for outstanding service of at least 10 years.

Chief Scout’s Commendation awards for more than five years went to Tyler Bourgaize, Toby Walters, Tracey De La Haye, Ben Moore, David Spicer, Alexis Mansell, Anita Batiste, Marie-Anne Jones, Mark Lancaster, Michael Waters and Daniel James.

Bailiwick commissioner Andy Snell said it was important to recognise the hard work and commitment of the volunteers.

‘They organise wonderful activities, trips away and fun challenges for the children to develop skills for life,’ he said.

‘It is an excellent opportunity to pay tribute to their enthusiasm and the difference they make to the lives of children across the Bailiwick.

‘All of our volunteers are intrinsic to the success of the organisation whether they help in the background once a month or on the frontline every week. We can find a role for anyone who wants to help young people.’

Interest in Scouting has been growing, so there is a need for more volunteers.
