Jubilee Hospital Radio was the only local radio station in Guernsey until a BBC station was set up in the island in 1982, followed by commercial radio 10 years later.

Taking requests and dedications from patients on the wards, the presenters bring joy and entertainment to the hospital 24/7.

Dr Brink was given a tour of the station by manager Jerry De La Cour and was introduced to programme manager and committee chairman Simon Gallienne before sitting down with Miss Brown.

‘We were delighted to be able to give something back to such a great ambassador for Guernsey,’ said Mr De La Cour.

‘I was very impressed with Dr Brink’s choice of music, which spanned many different genres.’

From musical hits to a Muppets song, listeners heard a different side to the director of Public Health to what islanders usually see at the Covid-19 press briefings.

Miss Brown said: ‘Dr Brink was a very down-to-earth and friendly guest. We talked about how her song choices related to important times in her life – it was a great show.’

One of her favourite moments was when Dr Brink suggested playing a song for the children on Frossard Ward.

‘We decided to play Bohemian Rhapsody by The Muppets,’ she said.

‘That definitely broke the ice, it was a loud, ridiculous parody and we laughed in the studio and had to fade it out half-way through.’
