WATCH: Condor Voyager’s maiden visit
CONDOR’S new Voyager vessel came into St Peter Port Harbour for the first time yesterday.
It was part of a number of port and berthing trials to test the ship, its crew and shore staff before passenger services begin.
Small crowds gathered along Castle Emplacement and along the seafront as Voyager arrived in St Peter Port just after 11am.
During the second time entering the harbour, the team at Castle Cornet were gearing up to fire the noon day gun, so dramatic music accompanied the manoeuvre.
However it all went smoothly with the 98-metre ship, formerly named Normandie Express, which is slightly smaller than the Liberation but larger than the Rapide.
It went in and out of the berth a number of times before sailing back to Jersey and then up to Poole. Earlier on in the day, it had sailed to St Malo.
Owned by Brittany Ferries, and leased to Condor, the high-speed catamaran has previously seen regular service between the UK and France over the past few years.
The ship will be based in St Malo and take over sailings from Condor Rapide, serving Jersey, Guernsey and the UK.
