Guernsey resident and businessman Peter Tom has taken over the business alongside his ownership of the Beach House restaurant at Pembroke.

Boatworks+, based at Castle Emplacement, has been providing maritime repairs and maintenance programmes for more than 30 years.

Having faced significant challenges during the pandemic, the company survived largely due to its heritage, quayside position and the essential nature of its services.

Mr Tom believed that with a refreshed management team and targeted investment it can reach its full potential, drawing more customers to the harbour with greater frequency, and creating opportunities for nearby businesses.

‘I have lived on the island for over 16 years and am delighted to be the new custodian of Boatworks+,’ he said.

‘It’s an important asset for the local community and we have exciting development plans for the business.’

Boatworks+, he said, had a key part to play in the development of St Peter Port and he was looking forward to harbour business growing.
