The 24-year-old took on the challenge to raise money for Guernsey Guide Dogs for the Blind.

‘People may not realise how much it costs to train a guide dog, which is around £35,000,’ she said.

She has so far raised £650 through her JustGiving page.

Miss Hurst started paddling at Chouet Bay and then continued down to the west coast.

A designer and photographer, she prepared for the journey last year by paddle boarding a total of 152 kilometres, and this year clocked up a further 128 kilometres, including a lap around Sark and Herm.

The journey’s total distance was 43.6 km, which took her 10 hours and 31 minutes to complete.

Miss Hurst got her first paddle board four years ago to use during the summer.

She described the activity as a great way to explore the coast line of Guernsey and to see places that are not easily accessible.

She took various items on the round-island board, including a spare set of clothes, food and water.

‘The last 10 kilometres were a real struggle,’ she said.

‘Although we had the wind against us at low speeds for most of the paddle, it was when we were approaching St Sampson’s it really swung round and came directly at us,’ she said.

‘With a combination of that and the tide now pulling us south, we really had to keep paddling or else we’d be going backwards.

‘I was fortunate enough to have a few friends come along and meet me at various checkpoints – some of them even got on their own SUPs to join me en route. This definitely helped motivation wise.’

By the end of the journey, she said she felt very happy and proud.
