There were 123 cyclists this year, each riding for one hour each day for 30 days, distinguishable in their pink jerseys.

It was the 14th one organised by Ian Brown’s Cycle Shop.

This year’s figure brings the total amount raised since 2008 to £891,892.34.

There were a wide array of other events arranged by this year’s riders, including a 7in7 challenge for Elizabeth College Junior School, various quiz nights, race nights, and socials, on top of the daily hour of cycling.

‘The Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising activities have long been associated with cyclists and the Rocque to Rock bike ride,’ Mr Brown said.

‘This event provides great awareness leading up to the Rocque to Rock but also provide a challenge for those that literally want to go that extra mile.’

The dates are confirmed for the 2022 challenge as 30 April until 29 May, ending again on the day of the annual Rocque to Rock.

Mr Brown said that Specsavers will be supporting the challenge next year.

The aim is to bring the total figure to more than £1m.

This will require a record-breaking amount of money of more than £108,000, but the organisers are confident that the riders will step up to this challenge.
