Some 40 different artists have presented their work in the shop, a lot of which reflects aspects of Guernsey life.

Yasmin Atkinson, the vice-president of GAN, has been working in the shop.

‘It’s been a great opportunity for local artists to show their art,’ she said.

The local theme has attracted tourists who are interested in taking a Guernsey souvenir home.

‘There’s been lots of visitors coming in. People come in looking for something unique and there’s such a broad range of prices, so there is something for everyone.'

Jewellery and painting workshops have also been available for people to take part in.

GAN volunteer Christine Shaw has helped to run the shop.

‘Networking is the main thing,’ she said. ‘It allows artists to meet each other and find customers.

‘We have artists who aren’t established yet, who would’ve never thought about selling work before, who have had the chance to sell it through the shop.’

The shop has been manned on a volunteer basis and is one of the few places on the island where artists can sell their work.

‘We’d love to be able to do it on a more permanent basis,’ said Ms Atkinson.
