Nominator Louise said: ‘All nurses and doctors have worked hard through the Covid pandemic to continue to offer a service to the community which is necessary and valuable.

‘All staff are friendly, professional and reassuring when attending to discuss private matters relating to sexual health. They offer a service while also educating and protecting those who attend.

‘They have pushed for important topics to be heard and understood – they deserve recognition for their hard work.’

During the first lockdown, Choices Guernsey continued to run its services through phone consultations. Because the service is essential, customers were able to collect contraception from the clinic.

During the second lockdown, Choices continued its face to face services but patients and nurses had to wear masks.

Manager Fiona Harding said: ‘During lockdown, teenagers were our biggest concern as we did not want their needs to become invisible. It was harder for them to get out during the one hour of permitted exercise to come to the clinic.

‘If we had not continued our essential services during the pandemic, the implications down the line would be massive.’
