Team 110 hoped to make £5,000 for Grow Ltd but within a few hours the total raised stood at £6,790.

All said it had been an interesting experience. They set off on their 110-mile ride at 5am and completed it at noon.

‘We had to dodge the hedgehogs in the road, rabbits that seem to have a death wish, and even a couple of drunks,’ said team member Shaun Robert.

Several youngsters joined the team along the west coast to help them along for the last few miles.

Last year the team raised more than £3,000 for Autism Guernsey and members are already working on a new beneficiary for 2022.

Christophe Gaultier, who they described as ‘the lynchpin’ of the team, was due to part, but had to pull out when he had to go to the UK at short notice. His colleagues were delighted to get a video message of encouragement from him prior to starting their challenge.

Taking part were Richard Le Marquand, Jez Vaudin, Neil Brouard, Dan Smith, Tim Stonebridge, Steve Holmes, Shaun Robert, Jon Sexton and Ben Sparrow, as well as Grow Ltd manager Eddie Higgins,

‘At this moment in time we need to keep our profile as high as possible given the proposed rebuild of our premises,’ said Mr Higgins.

‘The affinity towards Grow Ltd from Team 110 and from the community as a whole has just been beyond words.’
