Rory, 16, won the title of Royal Guernsey Golf Club Junior Club Champion in 2018 and 2020.

Rory has been playing golf for 15 years, since he was aged just one.

‘Rory Mckenna has been flying the flag for Guernsey Junior golf for years,’ said nominator Andre Austin.

‘He has been Hampshire U16 Junior Champion and to finally be crowned Guernsey Junior Champion this year was a great achievement for everything he has put into the game.

‘He is a great role model and ambassador for junior golf in the island.’

Although Rory has not been able to travel off island for competitions due to Covid, he still takes part in club competitions each week.

At the start of June Rory competed in the Island Championships, retaining his title.

‘The 2021 season has been going really well for me – I have a five handicap’, said Rory.

‘I haven’t been able to travel this year because of Covid but next year I hope to compete for the Macgregor Trophy and I am also working towards the South Regional Team.’

Alongside golfing, Rory also swims and shoots.
