Lessons as normal after one Covid case at La Mare
ONE confirmed case of Covid-19 has been identified at La Mare de Carteret High School.
In a letter addressed to parents and carers, head teacher Verona Tomlin said: ‘We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.
‘While we are unable to identify the individual, we can confirm that it has been two school days since the individual was last in attendance.
‘We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and will be working closely with Public Health to ensure that our school operates safely.’
Unless advised otherwise by Public Health, all students should continue to attend school as normal as long as they do not have any symptoms of Covid-19, parents have been told.
Children should continue to use lateral flow testing as part of the schools’ asymptomatic testing offer.
Public Health will notify any close contacts of a Covid-19 case as part of the current contact tracing policies.
They will then be required to undertake daily lateral flow tests and are expected to be vigilant for any symptoms, staying at home if these occur.
Anyone developing symptoms at school will be sent home immediately.
. If a child is experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms, they must remain at home and call the clinical helpline on 01481 756938 or 01481 756969.
. A student in Year 8 at Les Beaucamps High has tested positive, the States said on social media last night. All students in that year group must show a negative lateral flow test to attend school today.
. The Bailiwick now has 107 known active cases as four new ones have been found and 11 people have recovered.
Of the new cases, three were contacts of known cases and one from travel.
There are six people in hospital, all in Alderney.
