No Sunday papers due to machine breakdown
A LATE night print problem resulted in there being no Sunday national newspapers yesterday.
They are printed by the KP Services in Jersey and are usually shipped over to Guernsey early in the morning.
But KP Services general manager Alan Palin said one of the two presses had gone down on Saturday evening after having a problem with the motor.
A replacement part has been ordered from Switzerland and should arrive in the next few days.
In the meantime, the presses will be started three hours earlier, to allow the Jersey Evening Post and the Channel Islands nationals to be printed on the remaining working press.
Mr Palin said he hoped the machine would be fixed in the next couple of days.
The problem does not affect the Guernsey Press, which is printed in Guernsey.
