The third annual fun run will take place on Sunday 28 November in aid of local charities Men’s Shed Guernsey, Male Uprising Guernsey and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation. There are about 100 places left.

‘It’s a fun event with an element of challenge to get people out and about,’ said organiser Bryan O’Meara, who encouraged families and runners of any ability to take part, although the course is not recommended for children under the age of eight.

The run will start in the car park opposite the tower at Vazon before winding through the lanes and trails behind La Grande Mare and over Rob Waters’ farmland.

‘We had a full uptake last year of 500 people, which was fantastic,’ Mr O’Meara said.

‘We raised over £6,000.’

This year, the first 350 entrants will get a cow-patterned technical T-shirt made from recycled material. Within the first 24 hours, 150 people signed up for this year’s event, which Mr O’Meara said was encouraging.

‘It seems to have got people talking and the more people turn up, the more money is raised. It’s a chance to get out in the fresh air and is good for your physical and mental health – it’s meant to be a bit of fun.’

Mr O’Meara thanked sponsor Alter Domus and said he was very grateful for its continued support.

‘I also want to say thank you to Rob Waters – we are greatly indebted to him,’ he added.

‘If you haven’t been involved before, give it a go because everyone who has done it before has enjoyed it – the participation speaks for itself.’

n Registration is £20 for adults and £15 for children and available at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/muddy-cow-5k-fun-run-28th-november-2021-tickets-178329998827.
