Companies and clubs received platinum, gold, silver and bronze awards to display at their workplace or swimming venue in celebration of their hard work.

‘The ethos of the event is all about community and doing your part and it is the one event in Guernsey’s calendar that can involve the whole island,’ said Skipton commercial manager Aaron Walden.

‘We are thrilled to have honoured all these recipients and thank them wholeheartedly for their efforts.’

Notably, platinum awards were presented to NLG and St Sampson’s High School, who each raised in excess of £2,500.

Other awards included the 5th Guernsey Beavers receiving gold, silver for Aon, and bronze awards for Praxis IFM and the Guernsey Disability Swimming Club.

‘The corporate award scheme inspires local companies to get involved with the fundraising event,’ Mr Walden added.

This year’s main recipients from the funds raised at the Swimarathon were the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and Citizens Advice Guernsey.

The PPBF will use the donation to pay for a year’s upkeep of one of its flats next to Southampton Hospital, which is at the disposal of Bailiwick families with children receiving treatment at the hospital.

Citizens Advice Guernsey will use its donation towards the ongoing costs of its new IT system, including a brand-new telephony suite, to allow its volunteers to better serve the growing customer base.

The collection of donations from the 2021 Skipton Swimarathon are still pouring in, with organisers delighted to have already exceeded the total raised last year.
