The goal is to take a dip in all 12 bays during this month.

Each bay has been given a festive-themed name, including Bordeaux-ho-ho, Rocquaine around the Christmas tree, Baby it’s Cobo outside, Away in Fermain-ger, Bathing Yules, and I’m dreaming of a Moulin White Christmas.

Marina Burr was among the brave souls making an early morning splash for charity.

She confirmed that the water was cold, but refreshing.

‘After 10 years of not swimming in local waters I promised friends I would finally take a dip in July this summer, and have not looked back since.

‘I joined the GSAS [Guernsey Swim All Seasons] group and have swam in the sea practically every day since 27 July. I didn’t hesitate in signing up to the 12 Bays of Christmas challenge in support of Les Bourgs Hospice.

‘My first bay swim at “Bordeaux-ho-ho” was at sunrise and despite being windy and tad nippy at just over 12C in the water, it was celebrated in true festive style and set me up for the day.’

Liz Stonebridge from Les Bourgs Hospice was delighted to see the numbers of people taking part, and said that swimmers could register anytime this month.
