Eyes are on zig-zag crack

A WALL alongside Le Val des Terres is being closely monitored, but does not appear to be at imminent risk of collapse, the States coastal infrastructure team has said.

Concerns had been raised by members of the public about some large cracks in the wall adjoining the zig-zag footpath that links La Vallette with the lower part of Le Val des Terres.

‘We are aware of recent concerns raised about the condition of the wall,’ a spokeswoman said.

‘We have been monitoring the wall for some time and we have not observed a notable deterioration. The condition has been reviewed again on 2 December as part of the ongoing monitoring and there does not appear to have been any recent movement.’

She said site investigation works had been done recently as part of the project assessing the stability of the zig-zag path.

‘This will inform any works required,’ she said.

‘While at present the observations do not suggest to our engineers an imminent danger of the wall failing, we will be continuing to monitor its condition and will consider remedial works where necessary.’
