Driver Nick Russell said his two tractors took about three hours to decorate.

‘We’ve all had a bad year and we’re not out of it yet, but this brings a bit of joy in people – it’s all a bit of fun,’ he said. ‘We have all the family in the trailer, and the dogs. It’s brilliant fun.’

Elisha Willis was in the trailer and said it was a great idea.

‘It brings the Christmas cheer and is something different for the island to see,’ she said.

Maria Russell likened the Tractor Run to the Liberation Day cavalcade and Kerry Wilding agreed.

‘It makes people really happy – it’s about community spirit,’ Ms Wilding said.

Tyler Byrne, 11, said before the event that he hoped people would enjoy seeing the tractors.

‘It might get people in a jolly mood and make them happy,’ he said.
