The household waste & recycling centre reopened after the festive period and soon saw a long queue of cars as people dropped off their black bags.

The centre is normally closed on Thursdays, but it will be open today from 8am to 4pm to cope with the extra tidying taking place.

It will be open tomorrow from 8am until noon, but will be shut on Saturday.

It will be open on Sunday from 8am until noon and be closed on bank holiday Monday.

In previous years there have been problems with bring banks being filled to overflowing.

There are currently three bring bank sites – at Salerie, Rohais and Longfrie – but so far there does not appear to have been problems with overflowing bins.
