Education’s plan was announced before Christmas to help the sites operate while new post-16 education facilities are created.

Under worst case scenario planning, up to 10 temporary modular units could be installed in the car park of the College of Further Education Coutanchez campus. There are options for single or two-storey units, or a combination of both.

About 52 parking spaces would then be relocated to the field to the north of the site, with a bridge connecting the college and field sites across a douit.

To allow this part of a low granite wall would have to be dismantled and concrete pads installed on either side of the bridge. The bridge would be dismantled and the site returned to its current state once the project was completed.

‘This application is our “worst case” scenario,’ the report notes.

‘Therefore, parts of this proposed scheme maybe reduced in scope.’

The purpose of the project is to enable the redevelopment of the Les Ozouets Campus. It is hoped that classes can be moved to existing classrooms, but these classrooms will be in place if that is not possible.

A separate application details how a single temporary classroom would be created on the south-west of the Grammar School field, on land held in trust for the Intermediate and Grammar School Associations. This would be used to accommodate the Guernsey Music Service.
