Grammar School Sixth Form Students Billy Nicholson, 16, Grace Bennalick, 17, and Rachael Le Cheminant, 16, have a shared passion for encouraging people to take care of their mental health and wellbeing.

The group called Touch of Kindness has created wellness packages for islanders, however the group wanted to take it above an individual level and focus on a corporate level.

‘We understand that sometimes wellbeing can be a bit of a taboo topic and it is often not spoken about enough,’ said managing director Billy.

‘We want people to appreciate themselves and everything they do for the company they work for.’

The contents of the packages differ each month, and each item acts as a reminder to take some time out of each day to look after yourself and do what makes you happy.

The team hand-craft the packages and they include items such as information on Guernsey organisations and the support they provide, tea light candles, tea bags and pin badges.

Billy has estimated that Touch of Kindness has distributed about 200 packages so far, including on a stall during late-night shopping in St Peter Port and a stand in the Health Connections shop on the High Street.

The team hopes to go a lot further with the project.

‘Our aim is to try and provide a bit of support for people who need it and distribute our packages where people feel they are necessary,’ said Billy.

‘We encourage anyone to come forward who would like to collaborate with us, whether that be having vouchers for their businesses or details of their charities or organisations included as well as any company that would like to receive our packages monthly.’

The packages cost £3, and Touch of Kindness offer a subscription service for employees to receive a package each month for £2.50. The team also have tote bags available with their logo on which cost £5.
