‘Time was right to move the vaccination centre’

NOW is the right time to move the vaccination centre to the Cambridge and Delancey rooms, according to Public Health nursing lead Alex Hawkins-Drew.

She made the comment as the last vaccine clinic in the Sir John Loveridge Hall took place yesterday.

She described the event as a milestone for the programme.

‘The hall has served us well and was absolutely the right location for the vaccine roll-out, but we are pleased that the great success of the initial stages of the vaccination programme means it can be returned to its primary use as a sports venue for the community,’ she said.

‘The vaccine programme is continuing – we have just announced a spring booster for over-75s, including all those living in care and residential homes for older adults, and immunosuppressed individuals – but now is the right time to move primarily to the Delancey and Cambridge rooms within Beau Sejour.’

The recent weeks the vaccine team have gone to several community locations to make it easier for people to get jabbed. This week there are drop-ins at the Guille-Alles Library and drive-through jabs at the PEH.

‘We will continue to explore ways to make it as easy as possible for people to be vaccinated and working closely with other services to support members of the community who need support in accessing their vaccine offer,’ said Mrs Hawkins-Drew.

The first clinic in the Delancey/Cambridge rooms will be tomorrow.

‘We’ll continue to promote clinics on the States website and social media, as it’s never too late for anyone to get either their primary or first booster doses,’ she said.

‘I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the large-scale operation of the programme from the Sir John Loveridge Hall such a success, especially all the amazing staff who have run it.’

. There is a drop in today at the Guille-Alles Library between 12.30pm and 3.30pm.
