Sunnybrook on Route de Carteret was a home for people with profound learning difficulties. But it has been empty since 2016. Health & Social Care had planned to refurbish the property, but residents never moved back in.

Earlier this year the States confirmed that it planned to sell the Cobo property.

The seven-bedroom, three-bathroom home was marketed for £795,000 and is currently under offer.

The property also has a lounge, kitchen, utility room and study, as well as a large garden.

Sunnybrook was classed as residential use class four – which means it could be used for a nursing home or residential home care, where staff provide care on-site. Permission has now been granted to convert it to a single household dwelling.

In the planning report it was noted that the property was originally built as a dwelling house, but has more recently been used as specialised housing providing accommodation for five residents and carers.

‘The property is now surplus to requirements [by the States] and is not considered viable for refurbishment or redevelopment for such use,’ the planning report notes.

There were no objections to the change of use and planning permission was granted.
