And officers said that they were pleased that there were far fewer incidents which required their involvement at large organised events over the weekend, including the Cobo Bay balcony gig and the Guernsey Together festival.

Four juveniles were arrested following the incident at the skate park, where a teenager was assaulted on the afternoon of Sunday 22 May.

Two more were arrested in connection with the fight at Cambridge Park, where a large number of youths were involved, last Wednesday.

Police said officers took ‘measures which they felt were proportionate’ following the arrests, ‘particularly considering the continued actions of a minority group of young people in recent weeks’.

‘The behaviour of this group has led to assaults, intimidation and injuries, and Police will continue to maintain a robust approach to any such behaviours.’

Police are working with other agencies from across the island to help to tackle the ongoing issues linked with these groups of youngsters.

Police had additional high visibility patrols operating at large events over the weekend, while officers had worked with the management of licensed and off-licensed premises over alcohol sales, and thanked the establishments for stepping up supervision and security.

‘This helped to reduce the amount of alcohol in circulation among people under 18. It is important to continue to stress that these issues are only arising because of a small minority of young people,’ Police said in a statement.

‘We would also continue to urge parents to take reasonable steps to know where their children are, who they are with, and what they are doing, and to contact Guernsey Police if they ever feel it necessary.’
