Havelet slipway, near Castle Cornet, was damaged during a storm in 2018. Work is to start on repairs next month.

It follows a competitive tendering process which was delayed by the Covid pandemic. The work has been scheduled for the summer season to take advantage of the better weather and the low spring tides that occur during the period.

It is due to be completed by the end of September and there will be no public access in the meantime.

Geomarine has been selected as the preferred tenderer. The design of the repairs has considered a more robust approach to help withstand severe weather events in the future.

The work is being funded as a ‘must do’ project under the Government Work Plan, which was agreed by the States in 2021, and announced as a priority by Chief Minister Deputy Peter Ferbrache in November 2020.

Boaters are reminded that the slip should not be used until the notice to mariners has been rescinded by Guernsey Ports.
