The mother of two profoundly deaf sons is fundraising for the National Deaf Children’s Society by tackling in the 26.1-mile run.

‘I’ve completed a few half-marathons in the island, but found myself wanting to do something else,’ she said.

‘In the end, I thought, I’ve just got to do it, and it’s something I can tick off my bucket list.’

Ms Troth applied for the marathon shortly after last year’s event, however was told that all the places had been filled.

‘I was out working in the van and received a call from the National Deaf Children’s Society and they said they had a place available and I was so excited,’

‘But my son reminded me that that day was April Fool’s Day and I just felt so deflated, so I had to call them back to check it was legitimate and luckily it was.

‘The poor lady on the phone had to call back everyone else who had received a place just in case they thought it was a joke as well.’

Despite sustaining a knee injury at the end of 2021, and working in four jobs, Ms Troth tries to fit in training sessions when she can and tracks her runs on Strava to see her progress.

‘Running is my outlet and I was absolutely gutted when I injured my knee at Christmas time last year,’ she said.

‘I have to say a huge thank you to Dr Ranjan Vhadra at First Contact Health who helped with my injury, because I wouldn’t be able to run at all without his help, let alone attempt to run a marathon.'

Ms Troth has already reached her £2,000 target for her charity place, however still has plans to raise a lot more for the National Deaf Children’s Society.
