Busy Seafront Sunday a happy time for islanders and tourists
ST PETER Port was flooded with islanders and tourists yesterday for the second Seafront Sunday of the year, where families had fun spending time together and celebrating local produce.
This was the first of four EDABL, Eat Drink and Be Local, seafront events.
Enjoying the sun and a homemade pizza with her family was Laura Clarkson, who said the popular events were a nice change from being inside during the pandemic.
‘It’s really good and it’s such a lovely day which is nice,’ she said.
‘It’s really important and gives everyone a chance to get together on a Sunday – we haven’t had that much time to do that.’
She was impressed with the number of stalls and said her children had seen friends from school too.
Her daughter Daisy, nine, was excited to take part in the cooking demonstration.
‘I’m looking forward to the bit where we get what we have cooked,’ she added.
Stallholder Chantelle Lovering from Apothecary Guernsey and Lulu Sera said her homemade teas and herbal blends were proving a success.
‘It’s been busy and nice to see tourists,’ she said.
‘It’s much more busy than last year and everyone is happy about that.’
She was glad to see lots of smiling faces.
‘Everyone seems to be in a good mood.’
Colleague Sara Bourgaize agreed.
‘It’s been fabulous,’ she said.
‘Everyone seems very happy.’
Charlotte Blainey was selling her range of bath products, and said it was important for small businesses to have a platform.
‘There’s not really anything over here for small businesses so it’s nice to be able to do this and most of the stalls are locally produced which is good.’
On holiday from the US and enjoying local produce were Cher Caramayno and Meda Craig.
‘We find it lovely,’ Ms Caramayno said.
‘We have just come from our excursion, which was about the German Occupation of Guernsey.’
Ms Craig said Seafront Sunday was an exciting event.
‘This is great. I love the place and the architecture – it’s a great place for a holiday.’
