Gearing up for classic car show
CLASSIC car enthusiasts are gearing up for the Classic Vehicle Show which is taking place on Sunday at Saumarez Park.

From 11am to 5pm, vehicles, ranging from rally and modern cars to military vehicles and motorcycles, will be on display.
Guernsey Classic Vehicle Club chairman and director John Bichard said the annual event brought together both classic car enthusiasts and anyone interested in seeing the vehicles. ‘It is just for people to appreciate cars in general,’ he said.
‘Everything is in place – we just need people to show up.’
In previous years, the event has seen in excess of 350 vehicles at the park, and Mr Bichard hoped for another great turnout.
‘People are very positive this year and events are happening,’ he added.
Anyone with an interesting vehicle is being encouraged to attend.
‘There are lots of vehicles on the island that people have got hidden away. If they have got something really old and unique, we would love them to come out and we hope that people will bring them along.’
A carbon offset programme set up by British Historic Vehicle Clubs with Tree-V will also be promoted by the club.
‘Based on number of vehicles that attend the show, a contribution will be made towards an eco-friendly tree planting scheme,’ Mr Bichard said.
Food trailers, charity stalls and children’s entertainment, including bouncy castles, a train ride and go karts, will also be available. Dancing displays and presentations will take place in the main arena, and Jo Priaulx will be joined by Andy and Sebastian Priaulx, if on-island, to choose the best in show.
There is free entry to the park, but parking in Home Farm is £5 per vehicle.
