The events on Saturday night, Sunday afternoon and evening were organised by the charity Smile for Georgie, which was set up in memory of Georgie Le Prevost, who died in a car accident in 2017.

Charity trustee Peter Le Cheminant said the event had been organised to thank people who had supported the charity over the last five years, as well as get young people into the theatre.

Free tickets were offered to the public so they could attend the events at the Performing Arts Centre.

‘It’s been fantastic,’ said Mr Le Cheminant.

‘On Sunday afternoon we had so many children and families. Many have dressed up and the audience has been clapping and singing along. This is really a celebration of the charity’s five years.’

The matinee aimed to have a relaxed atmosphere for the young people.

‘It is about getting people who do not normally come to the theatre,’ he said.

Overall, about 700 people had tickets for one of the free performances. The entertainment, which included music from a variety of popular animated films, was organised by Darren Alderton of Music Theatre Guernsey, along with 20 singers and 18 musicians.

Lauren Mason was enjoying the concert with her daughter Alyssa Mason-Ferreira, six, along with friend Catarina Dos Santos and her son Lucas Ferreira, four.

Ms Mason said she had seen the concert advertised and had seen signs about the Smile for Georgie charity around, but did not know much about it.

So she read up and thought it would be nice to come along.

‘The children have loved it and it has been a great family day out. They’ve been enjoying themselves, particularly Frozen and Encanto.’

Kerrie Davey was there with daughter Ally De Carteret and grandchildren Zen, five, and Jax, nine.

‘They’ve just been enthralled,’ she said.
