Dozens of people toured the grounds of Le Beuval, Les Sages, at an event organised by Floral Guernsey.

Paul and Claire Winter have owned the property for 43 years.

‘It was more or less derelict when we bought it,’ said Mrs Winter.

‘We think there might have been greenhouses here before as there were a lot of straight walls.’

The couple are keen gardeners.

For some 25 years Mrs Winter has been involved with the GVS, of which she is currently a director.

‘The GVS has to fund-raise as we only get a small grant from the States,’ she said.

‘From a more personal point of view, Paul and I like to be able to share our garden with other people.’

Andrew Freitas and Shauna Aslett, who are both accountants, were among those looking around.

‘My dad told me it was lovely and it is,’ said Mr Freitas.
