Former Scouts chief named as charities association chairman
ENTREPRENEUR Wayne Bulpitt will be heading the Association of Guernsey Charities after being elected its new chairman.
With a history of working
with charities and volunteer organisations, Mr Bulpitt hopes to continue the work that Malcolm Woodhams achieved during his term, as well as some goals of his own.
‘I’m really pleased to have been elected the new chairman for the association,’ he said.
‘The previous chair did some really good work, such as implementing support services such as giving.gg, and I would like to build on that.
‘But my priority during my
role is to implement a commissioning network to work with the
government in constructive collaboration against a series of outcomes.’
The position is typically a three-year term, however it has the possibility to be extended.
Mr Bulpitt is the founder of Aspida Group and a director of a number of finance sector operating and investment companies.
He was also the first UK chief commissioner of the UK Scout Association between 2009 and 2016 and was appointed vice president after that term.
‘I spent some time around people who volunteered when I was young,’ he said.
‘Now that I’m able to, I’m really passionate about giving that back.’
Mr Bulpitt added that after working with the Community Foundation and as a representative in the UK, he was interested in taking on a local role.
He is keen to spend the first few months of his chairmanship meeting charities and organisations to identify what they require and what they’d like to see implemented.
