Glamping site planned in heart of St Peter’s
A NEW glamping site made up of green geodesic domes could be created at in the heart of St Peter’s, if planning permission is granted.
The application for the Rue Des Caches site has been made with the hopes of installing 10 glamping units in the form of geodesic domes, with decking. There would also be a wellness retreat on the first floor of one of the existing barns.
The glampsite would provide temporary, seasonal accommodation.
The domes would vary in size, going up to a diameter of 9.5m. The structures would be a PVC architectural membrane over a frame, and they would be in shades of green.
Living willow hedging would be planted to divide up the glamping units and there would also be a new orchard and petanque court created.
The first floor of the barn would have a wellness retreat and would host yoga, pilates, stress management, meditation, reiki healing and shen therapy workshops.
The use of the first floor hall would also host the occasional wedding event.
The existing barn at ground floor level will be converted to provide accommodation to the glamping site, including toilets, a shower, a kitchen and breakfast areas. There will be an honesty shop.
There will also be a hall to provide space for workshops and classes as part of the overall wellness centre and retreat.
A new vehicle access would be made on to Route du Longfrie and there would be parking for up to 16 cars on site.

There is already a glampsite in the parish in the form of Camp de Reves. Owners Jane and Danny Barnes welcomed the new site, as it would benefit the island.
‘We wish the owners all the very best with their application for the proposed new glampsite, it can only be a good thing for Guernsey to create more visitor beds for the island’s tourist industry if we are to be serious about pushing Guernsey, and the Bailiwick as a whole, as a unique holiday destination,’ they said.
‘With reference to competition, we see it as a good thing, it helps keep you on your toes and pushes you to always be the best you can be.
‘As long as the links to the island keep improving and the accommodation offerings stay innovative there is a market for all of us and we also never overlook the importance of our wonderfully supportive staycationers.’
