THE Guernsey Together Festival will be returning next year and it will be twice as long.

After two years of having it as a one-day event, organiser Alex Lock said the effort put into organising the music festival justified extending it to the Sunday.

‘It just makes sense – it’s a lot of manual labour and nearly a year of preparation. After the last one we felt we had got day one right and how we wanted it to be, so it shouldn’t be a problem.’

All 5,000 tickets were sold out for this year’s event, which takes place at the Rabbit Warren behind the building which used to be The Bowl. Camping will not be on offer, but Mr Lock said a number of hotels in the area would benefit from people coming over from Jersey and the UK.

‘We’re still working on the [organising] side of things. Finding teams to work overnight to ensure the site is clean and tidy is probably the biggest worry, and it’s another day’s worth of bands to find, which is also a challenge.’

Last year more than 30 artists took to the stage, including local bands Buffalo Huddleston and Rubix.

Several things have been taken into consideration based on feedback from festival-goers.

‘It’s a bit early to know but we assume the layout will stay the same. We had good feedback last year on the way it was set out.’

Access to drinking water was one issue highlighted by visitors, as there were no refill stations available.

‘We are hoping to find a sponsor so we can have free bottles of water,’ said Mr Lock.

Nearly 2,000 people have already said they are interested in the event on Facebook.

n The 2023 event is set to take place from Saturday 27 May from 11am-11pm and Sunday 28 May 11am-10pm.
