Pride of Guernsey: Julie-Anne Headington
CLIMATE CHANGE activist Julie-Anne Headington has received multiple nominations for the Sustainability Hero of the Year award, which is sponsored by Aon Guernsey.
She was nominated for her organisation of the Guernsey Green Ribbon Pledge, which kicked off in June.
‘Three years ago I went to Kenya with my niece and I saw first hand the impact climate change had on animals and individuals,’ said Mrs Headington.
This kick-started her passion for climate change, which led her to organise the Green Ribbon Pledge.
She said she found that it was a lack of knowledge that meant people were not doing their bit for the planet.
The pledge encourages individuals or businesses to make pledges, such as driving less, to reduce their impact on climate change.
Nominator Martin Muller said: ‘Julie-Anne is incredibly dedicated in everything she does in her life and is totally passionate about the environment.
‘She amazes me how dedicated she is in doing her bit for the environment and how she threw herself into the Green Ribbon Pledge and put everything in to try to encourage others to the cause. Guernsey needs more Julie-Annes.’
Mrs Headington has plans to continue her efforts as a climate change activist on Guernsey.
