Show manager delighted by level of first day support
SHOW manager Josh Gabriel was pleased with how the first day was going.
‘I’m really happy, I can’t believe how many people have come down to see what’s on so early in the event,’ he said.
‘It’s great to see the return of so many UK entertainment acts as well.’
Mr Gabriel’s highlights and recommendations for the two-day event at Saumarez Park were aerial performers Vanders Wheel and British motocross freestyle champion, Jamie Squibb, whose team, he said, reach heights as tall as the trees.
He was also looking forward to the evening performance of Queen tribute act, Queen II, who were taking over the main stage to end the night.
One attraction drawing queues of people was the Outdoor Guernsey climbing wall.
Bobby Cole, 10, said that he was quite good at climbing and was not at all nervous to embrace the wall.
Bobby’s mum said that he had been loving the outdoors during his summer holiday, and had spent a lot of time swimming and jumping into the sea.
He was joined by visiting cousins, Toby, 6, and Bethany Fisher, 9, who stood back enjoying an ice cream while watching him climb.
They were on an 11-day holiday from Chelmsford in Essex, after one week was not enough for them last year.
The North Show was one of the many activities they wanted to tick off on their list of things to do during their holiday.
. The Battle of Flowers takes place today, starting at 2.30 and finishing at about 4pm, with the results afterwards.
