Less volatility in LPG should see gas prices stabilise

THE price of gas in the Bailiwick is not planned to increase for the remainder of the year, according to the CEO of Islands Energy Group.

Following a 16.9% increase for customers last October, Islands Energy has no intention to increase prices further, dependent on global market conditions and the wholesale price of liquid petroleum gas.

‘At the current time, the situation with LPG, the type of gas used in the Channel Islands, is less volatile than natural gas, which is typically referred to in the UK,’ said Jo Cox, pictured.

‘LPG is at significantly less risk of shortage of supply than natural gas, and in addition we carefully manage our procurement process so that we have multiple suppliers, further “de-risking” our supply of LPG.’

She added that LPG has not seen the same increase in cost as other natural gases and so the company has been able to hold prices since October 2021.

‘The cost of living is clearly a pressing concern for many and as such we are dedicated to supporting our customers – offering free comfort checks, helping to create payment plans to spread the cost of higher winter bills, and through our priority customer care scheme.

‘If anyone does have any concerns or worries over their gas bills in the coming months, we’d recommend they contact us to access all the support we are able to offer.’
