Pride’s rainbow steps get washed away again

THE rainbow-coloured steps at Market Street for the Guernsey Pride celebrations at the start of September have disappeared now that the paint has been removed.

Liberate CEO Ellie Jones said they have received a lot of positive feedback about the temporary feature, which was installed at the end of August.

‘We get so many lovely comments about it,’ she said.

‘It’s an amazing thing to do with Pride, as it gets people talking. Seeing symbols like this means so much to young LGBT people.’

The step decorations were supported by PwC.

The paint was removed by yesterday lunchtime.

The postbox at the base of the steps was also decorated in rainbow colours for a Coming Out Closet art project.

The box will return to its traditional blue at the end of the month.
