Aurigny confirmed the jet had been involved in the incident while en-route from Guernsey to Gatwick.

‘We confirm there was no physical damage to the aircraft and the aircraft landed safely,’ an Aurigny spokeswoman said.

‘In accordance with our standard operating procedures following such an event, engineers were dispatched to Gatwick to inspect the aircraft and upon inspection declared the aircraft serviceable.’

The standby aircraft was brought into service and customers were moved onto the next available flights to minimise delays.

The jet was brought back into service and arrived back in Guernsey on Wednesday night.
