There is also a chance for the highest bidder to have a Facetime call with the player from the 1980s and 90s, regarded as one of the club's best-ever full-backs, who has a page dedicated to him on the Arsenal website.

‘The heart of our Les Bourgs Hospice is our nursing team and they are here for patients and their families 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so as an independent charity all fundraising helps us continue providing that care,’ said fundraising administrator Liz Stonebridge.

‘We are always looking for different ways to raise money so it was really exciting to have this opportunity.

'We really hope that members of the footballing community will support us by placing a bid.’

The prize was originally won by Carl Falla, who donated it to the hospice to help with fundraising.

‘Les Bourgs Hospice is incredibly grateful to everyone who has so generously supported us over the 30 years that Andrew Mitchell House has been open, but we know that the future of fundraising for all charities is going to become more challenging,’ said Ms Stonebridge.

‘We are fortunate that our key events this year have been well supported but we know that this won’t always be the case.’

With the cost of living increasing and people having less money to donate, efforts are being made to explore how the hospice can continue to meet its operating costs.

‘On a positive note we have a very clear reason for fundraising as we know that every penny raised or donated contributes to our one aim of delivering the highest standard of hospice care to Bailiwick residents.

‘None of us know when we, our families, friends or colleagues may need that care so it is an extremely powerful motivation.’

To place a bid, send an email with your name and contact number to tickets@lesbourgs.com, with Arsenal Shirt as the reference.

The silent auction closes at midnight on 1 October and the winner will be contacted 3 October.
