Appreciating what they have and giving to others was the theme of the service, which featured harvest festival performances by members of the congregation.

‘The purpose of the harvest festival is to give thanks for food and the things we enjoy and to raise donations for the Guernsey Welfare Service,’ said the Rev. Daniel Foot.

‘The service was interactive and filled with people of all ages, the children put on a performance and were dressed up as various items of food and there were also performances from the band and the choir.’

It is estimated that about 100 people attended the service, bringing both food and money donations along with them.

‘We recognise that with the rising cost of living, now more than ever people need this service from the Guernsey Welfare Service,’ said Mr Foot.

‘We’re trying to raise as much as possible to support this service.’

The Guernsey Welfare Service is an independent Christian charity which helps islanders in need in the form of food banks, vouchers and life skills courses among many more.
