Independent judges and sponsors met yesterday lunchtime at the Old Government House Hotel to consider a shortlist of three in each category, chosen by public vote, and to pick a winner in each of 14 categories.
‘Every shortlisted nominee is certainly worthy of recognition and the judges, as always, faced a tough task,’ said Guernsey Press editor James Falla.
‘I’m looking forward now to the awards night and to see some very worthy winners get their moment in the spotlight.’
Ray & Scott Jewellers was sponsoring the Parent of the Year category, and managing director Martin Search was one of the judges.
‘As in previous years, the nominations were all extremely deserving and it was very difficult to pick a winner from the finalists,’ he said.
‘We were looking for consistency in what the parents face in everyday life, but ultimately all parents do an amazing job.’
Penny Wilson is managing director of DWA, sponsoring the Customer Service of the Year award.
She said that with her fellow judges, they had came to an agreement fairly quickly.
‘We were looking for the person who really stood out to us, and we came to the conclusion of that quickly,’ she said.
The Pride of Guernsey Awards night takes place at St Pierre Park Hotel and will be live streamed.
