There was £2,000 raised through the charity coffee morning, and donations will be going towards the hospice, who looked after Mrs Sheppard before she died from lung cancer in May 2020.

‘This is a real community pub, and the new landlords Gavin and Sabrina have been amazing and so accommodating to us,’ said Mr Sheppard.

‘All of the food is homemade and there are some real masterpieces that people have brought with them alongside their donations.’

This was the third year of the charity event.

Mr Sheppard said that he had no real fundraising goals, but just wanted to raise as much money as possible, describing previous years as raising ‘a ridiculous amount.’

The pub was packed with those close to the family, and there was fun and games for the children, who took games breaks between doing the rounds with their donation boxes.

‘The community spirit here is just great,’ said Mr Sheppard.

Some supermarkets had even subsidised items such as milk for the teas and coffee, so there were no overheads for Mr Sheppard.
