In collaboration with Rotary Guernesiais, a Halloween celebration will be taking place at Edible Guernsey on Sunday 23 October, with all proceeds going to the community garden project.

‘Last year we provided the pumpkins for the Rotary Halloween pumpkin carving, but we both held separate events on different days,’ said Sarah Breton of Edible Guernsey.

‘By combining them at Edible, we have an indoor space with parking and a social area where people can eat pumpkin soup and bean jar and other traditional Guernsey dishes, as well as doing some pumpkin carving and embracing the Halloween spirit.

‘It’s a one-stop shop where people of all ages can enjoy themselves.’

Rotary Guernesiais typically sells up to 60 pumpkins each year at its event for people to carve.

There will be Rotarians on site to assist with pumpkin carving, and most importantly, the clean-up process.

‘We decided to support Edible this year as they grow the pumpkins themselves and do some much in terms of the community,’ said Katie Court of Rotary Guernesiais. ‘It’s a fun day out for children, and in such a great location as well, we hope that people who come along will explore the Edible site and learn about what goes on here.’

Talented pumpkin carver Nate Smith will be working on one of the larger pumpkins, which will be auctioned off at 2.30pm on the day.

n The event runs from 11am to 3pm at the Edible Guernsey site at Rue des Heches, St Peter’s.

Pumpkins will be £5 to carve and there will be refreshments for purchase on site.
