For the second year, tractors covered in Christmas decorations will be touring the island.

This year it will be raising money for family support charity Wigwam.

The route will be similar to last time, but will be starting at Les Beaucamps School instead.

‘Last year it was a spur of the moment thing so people were in a bit of a rush. This year we put it out earlier so I think there will be some really big ideas and big plans,’ said organiser Ben Le Page, who had reindeer antlers on his tractor last year.

He confirmed the route was slightly longer this time as it now stretches past the Mallard and out to the Imperial.

‘With tough times with Covid last year, we just want to put a smile on people’s faces at Christmas,’ said Mr Le Page.

The success of the event last year led Mr Le Page and his co-organiser Matthew Spruce to consider whether it should be an annual occasion.

‘I asked Matt whether it was something we should do again or if we should take a break next year,’ he said.

‘I think people now think it’s an annual event and we want to make people happy.

‘People said we should do it for a charity and Wigwam is one of those that does quite a bit for children and they are quite a small charity.’

Tractor owners taking part are asked to donate £10 and there will be donation buckets going round.

Tractors are expected to arrive between 5pm and 5.45pm, ready for the run to start at 6pm.

Any tractor owners interested in taking part should contact the organisers through the Facebook page.

Donations can also be made online via giving.gg at https://bit.ly/3Bfm7uJ.
