Videos of the disturbance, which involved several men in separate and apparently related fights and violence in the Harbour Lights pub near the bus terminus at about 4pm, were recorded by people in the bar and spread rapidly on Friday night.

So much so that police appealed for people to stop sharing them.

As of Saturday afternoon, one person was reported to be detained in hospital, with their condition described as stable.

The four men, aged 50, 48, 35 and 34, were all charged with the offence of violent disorder on Saturday evening.

Police analysed the video footage as part of their investigations.

‘These videos feature a particularly violent incident that many people will not want to see,’ they said.

‘As such, we’d like to ask the community to now stop sharing them. We have copies and they are being used as evidence, so there is no need for them to be shared further.’

Police said that the licensee of the pub had cooperated fully with their enquiries.

They would still like to speak to anyone who saw the incident in the pub – not via the video – who they have not yet been in contact with. Enquiries are continuing, officers said yesterday.

Guernsey Police can be contacted on 01481 222222 or via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

The pub has remained open.
