This will be the fourth time Lihou has hosted the event, which normally sees around 50 islanders tackle 5km across varied terrain.

Registration will open at 12.30pm, as will the causeway, with the run starting at 1.15pm.

The course consists of four laps of a route that will take participants along paths around the coast and into the heart of the 38-acre island.

‘It will be an opportunity to see what Lihou has to offer,’ said warden Steve Sarre.

An entry fee of £10 will go directly to the Lihou Charitable Trust to support the continuous efforts being undertaken to keep Lihou House running.

‘We’ve got a lot of ongoing maintenance work that needs to be finished,’ said Mr Sarre.

Upon completion, runners will be presented with a goody bag courtesy of local law firm, Appleby, which is sponsoring the event.

Alongside the cross-country there will be a weather-dependent afternoon of sports-themed family fun taking place in the house grounds, as well as tea and cakes inside.

The event is open to all abilities but entrants must be 18 and over.
