Students need your support in global art competition
THERE are a few weeks left to support two local teenage artists as they compete in an international competition.
The Ladies’ College’s Abigail Bran and Jacques Loveridge, from Blanchelande College, won the Guernsey students’ prize as part of the Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prizes.
Now they are competing against secondary school students from across the world, as people vote for a global winner.
The Sovereign Art Foundation Global Students Prize sees 16 artworks by students from Gibraltar, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Isle of Man, London, Malta and Gozo, Portugal and Mauritius, united in the online exhibition.
Miss Bran painted an acrylic of Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, while Mr Loveridge photographed the Milky Way.
From this global presentation, one global judges’ prize will be awarded to the student selected by a jury comprised of noted professionals.
The public are also invited to vote for their favourite work, with the most popular piece to receive the title of global public vote prize winner.
The global competition aims to enable a cultural exchange between nations, showcasing artworks by the most talented and promising students from across the world.
